BJ Capps and Kelly Ferguson Engagement Session

I got the privilege to not only photograph another couple wanting engagement pictures, but I got to hang out with my best friend at the same time. BJ and Kelly came down to Fredericksburg yesterday and we hung out at Chatham Manor again.......I love that place. Can't wait till next year when we celebrate their wedding on the beach in good ol North Carolina.

It was a perfect day out at Chatham Manor this afternoon; the humidity was down and the skies were clear! We strolled around the grounds and took complete advantage of the beautiful day to photograph this amazing family. Little miss Abby will be here soon and we can't wait to all meet her. Bear Acres

I know it's been a while, but here's the latest and greatest. My family went to Texas a few weeks ago to help celebrate my cousins wedding. Before the wedding started we all headed down to my Aunt Bears ranch, Bear Acres. We had a blast riding the horses and just hanging out with family.

I'm headed up to the 1840's Ballroom in Baltimore, MD this afternoon to check out the wedding location for next month. I'm really anxious to see all the great photographic opportunities that will present themselves when I get up there.

2011 DC Auto Show

My wife and I go to the Washington DC Auto show every year, with the exception of last year. We found that the auto makers were getting complacent with their presentations and everything was just looking the same. This year was pretty neat. A few new things that caught my eye was the emphasis on electric cars and the new arrival of Fiat.

So with Earl on the way Brandie and I were forced to evacuate the Outer Banks. We stayed up all night last night hanging out in the pool and having a beer or two in the hot tub at the beech house. Although you could put your feet in the "shallow" parts, no one was allowed to swim in the water so I just ended up taking a few shots of the beech. The waver were CRAZY! They were at least 10 feet high and the rip tide was shockingly strong. I feel bad for my friend who was suppose to get married there today at 6. They ended up pushing the time up to 4 thinking they could beat the weather, then that pushed it back till tomorrow due to the evacuation. The problem is, everyone is leaving and we aren't sure they are going to let anyone back in.

Earl, you suck! It'll be interesting to see what happens. Some of the locals say the last bad hurricane they had was back in 1991, and that was only a cetegory 2, this is a category 4!

This is my Tomato Clown hanging out in my Purple Tipped Anemone. I get a lot of questions from people asking how is it that the anemone is able to cling on to most things it touches, including it's brine shrimp, but the fish are able to swim right through it and be OK. The explanation is that the mucus coating on the fish is be based on sugars rather than proteins. This would mean that anemones fail to recognize the fish as a potential food source and do not fire their nematocyst, or sting organelles.

Here’s a teaser from the engagement shoot we did yesterday with the lovely Amber and Trey from Baltimore. Brandie and I had a great time hanging out at Pearmund Cellars in Gainesville. After photographing we enjoyed a glass of wine and enjoyed the evening. We were a little scared on the way down that the photo shoot might get canceled due to the storm, but wouldn’t you know it, as soon as we got there the weather cleared up and was perfect. Stay tuned as the rest of the photos will be up soon. We are also looking forward to photographing the wedding at the1840's Ballroom in Baltimore!

We also had a guest worship leader on Sunday. Anthony and the Lifepoint band rocked the house on Sunday and placed an unforgettable beat of Jesus in all our hearts.

This is Grahams first Birthday. He had so much fun playing in his very own cake. I love photographing babies when they are allowed to just be free and explore. I think Graham ended up wearing more cake than he ate, but that's OK because he appeared to behaving so much fun.

We had Ted and Gayle Haggard visit our church this past weekend at Life Point Church. It was truly eye opening experience as to what God truly means when he say to Forgive and Repent. Brandie got the idea from a photographer in Canada to make a 60 second intro video to our new website which is currently in the making. The video involves video-graphing the photographer performing a photo session with a couple in different location. We got two good friends of ours, Shane and TIffany, to be our gunny pigs for the day. Here are a few pictures.

Wow, what an amazing worship service last Sunday at Life Point Church. It was truly felt that God spoke to a lot of hearts that day. Everyone was instructed to write down the names on cloth of those that you wish would come closer to know God or those than may be distant. It was truly an amazing experience watching everyone come up with cloth's full of names. We have work to do!

Spent some time last week at the DC Zoo. We brought the family and some great friends along for fun in the sun. Once again my only disappointment is they aren't yet finished with section for the eagles and wolves. However there were plenty of other animals to take a peak at. Enjoy.

Brandie and I went to the Melting Pot with some good friends off ours and had a blast. We spent 3 hours just dipping fine food and talking the night away. After dinner we headed back to our place in Fredericksburg for some more conversation and wouldn't ya know it, out came the camera.

Here is one of a pew posts from a wedding Brandie and I photographed last weekend at the Inn at Vint Hill in Warrenton, Virginia. Vint Hill use to be a military base and is now a full service events facility. It was beautiful with all the snow outside and everyone did an amazing job putting the whole wedding together.

Oh my goodness has it been a while. I have been super busy with LIFE. I photographed my brothers best friend's mother's wedding this past weekend. Did you follow that? Ha. I had a blast. It was a very simple wedding followed by a huge party. It was the first wedding I have photographed where 99% of the people there were up on the dance floor.

This is baby Graham Courtney. Yesterday we went to Belvedere Plantation in Fredericksburg to check out the pumpkin patch. Despite the $15 admission, we jumped right in and couldn't wait to see who could grab the heaviest pumpkin. Brandie went along with us and could only talk about the giant bouncing bag they had set up for the kids and was trying to figure out how she could get in on the fun. There were hay rides, corn mazes and all the food you could think of....as long as you wanted it to taste like pumpkin. The weather was perfect and we had a blast.

This is a really neat fire truck I found behind my parents neighborhood. I have no idea how old it is. It looks like it's been sitting for years.

This is the view outside of the cabin Brandie and I stayed in up in Main. There is a small mountain range off to the right that we climbed a day or so later. It just so happens to be the place Brandie told me she loved me. Hook, line and sinker, ha.

My father and I decided to get up at 430 in the morning on Saturday to check out the local Balloon Festival. I must say it was a lot more interesting than I thought it was going to be. My dad and I had a great time hanging out...I even got breakfast out of it...ha. We found a dentist that showed up with his own balloon, but not just any balloon. He didn't have a basket, he had a single seat attached to a lof of propane. All of the photos were edited using Adobe Lightroom. I absolutely love this program and recommend it!
